STEP 1
Add a new client
SCREENSHOT 1.1
Shows: "Add New Client" modal with fields for Name, SSN, Date of Birth, Filing Status, and optional address fields.
Annotations:
  1. RED ARROW at the "Add New Client" button that triggers the modal
  2. YELLOW CIRCLE around each required field (Name, SSN, DOB, Filing Status)
  3. GREEN CALLOUT at the SSN field: "TRH stores this encrypted at rest"
Click Add New Client in the top-right of the Clients page. Fill Name, SSN, Date of Birth, and Filing Status.
Common mistakeTyping the SSN with dashes and then typing it without dashes later on the transcript pull. TRH accepts either, but be consistent so duplicate-detection works.
STEP 2
Save the client profile
SCREENSHOT 2.1
Shows: Filled-out client form with the Save button at the bottom, plus a brief success toast.
Annotations:
  1. GREEN CIRCLE around the Save button
  2. YELLOW ARROW at the success toast "Client saved"
  3. RED CALLOUT labeled "Modal closes, client appears in the Clients list"
Click Save. A success toast appears and the client is added to your Clients list.
STEP 3
Open the client detail view
SCREENSHOT 3.1
Shows: Clients list with the newly-added client row highlighted. Client detail page open with tabs: Overview, Transcripts, Authorizations, Analysis, Documents.
Annotations:
  1. RED ARROW at the client row in the list
  2. YELLOW CIRCLE around the "Transcripts" tab in the client detail view
  3. GREEN CALLOUT at the "Pull Transcripts" primary button
Click the client row to open their detail page. You'll land on the Overview tab by default; switch to Transcripts.
STEP 4
Click Pull Transcripts
SCREENSHOT 4.1
Shows: Empty Transcripts tab with a large "Pull Transcripts" button centered on the page.
Annotations:
  1. RED CIRCLE around the "Pull Transcripts" button
  2. YELLOW CALLOUT labeled "Opens the transcript request wizard"
Click the Pull Transcripts button to open the request wizard.
STEP 5
Choose transcript type
SCREENSHOT 5.1
Shows: Transcript type picker with checkboxes: Account, Return, Wage & Income, Record of Account, Verification of Non-filing. Each row has a tooltip explaining the difference.
Annotations:
  1. RED ARROW at the "Record of Account" row labeled "Most useful for resolution work"
  2. YELLOW CIRCLE around the hover-tooltip on each row
  3. GREEN CALLOUT: "You can pick multiple types in one request"
Choose one or more transcript types. For resolution work, Record of Account is usually the starting point — it combines Account and Return data.
STEP 6
Choose tax years
SCREENSHOT 6.1
Shows: Year picker showing last 10 years as checkboxes, plus a "Select last 6" quick-button.
Annotations:
  1. GREEN CIRCLE around the "Select last 6" quick-button
  2. YELLOW ARROW at the individual year checkboxes
  3. RED CALLOUT: "Each year is a separate IRS call — budget ~5 sec/year"
Pick the years you need. Most resolution cases use the last 6 tax years. Use the quick-button or tick individual years.
Common mistakePulling all 10 years when you only need 3. It costs time and adds noise to the analysis — be deliberate.
STEP 7
Confirm and submit
SCREENSHOT 7.1
Shows: Confirmation summary showing "3 transcripts x 6 years = 18 IRS calls" and a large Submit button.
Annotations:
  1. RED CIRCLE around the "18 IRS calls" line
  2. GREEN ARROW at the Submit button
  3. YELLOW CALLOUT: "TRH paces these to stay under IRS rate limits"
TRH shows you exactly how many IRS calls your request translates to. Review and click Submit.
STEP 8
Watch the status panel
SCREENSHOT 8.1
Shows: Queue panel with individual rows for each transcript-year combination. Each row has a status: Queued, In Progress, Complete, or Error. A progress bar at the top shows overall completion.
Annotations:
  1. YELLOW CIRCLE around the overall progress bar
  2. GREEN ARROW at a "Complete" row labeled "Green check = file available"
  3. RED ARROW at an "In Progress" row with spinner
  4. BLUE CALLOUT: "Safe to close the page — jobs keep running in the background"
The queue shows each transcript-year as its own row. You can close this page and come back — TRH processes the queue in the background.
STEP 9
Successful pull — files appear in the client record
SCREENSHOT 9.1
Shows: Transcripts tab on the client page populated with rows for each transcript, grouped by year. Each row has the type, year, pulled-at timestamp, and actions (View, Download, Delete).

STEP 10
Open and view a transcript
SCREENSHOT 10.1
Shows: TRH transcript viewer with a Record of Account rendered as structured sections (header, return info, transactions, balances) instead of raw text. Left sidebar has a section jump list.
Annotations:
  1. RED ARROW at the section jump list on the left
  2. YELLOW CIRCLE around a TC 150 transaction row
  3. GREEN CALLOUT: "Hover a TC code to see what it means"
Click View to open TRH's built-in viewer. Unlike raw IRS text, TRH renders transcripts as navigable, structured sections with TC-code tooltips.
STEP 11
Export to PDF
SCREENSHOT 11.1
Shows: Transcript viewer with the "Export to PDF" button in the top-right toolbar highlighted, and a save-dialog behind it.
Annotations:
  1. RED CIRCLE around the "Export to PDF" button
  2. YELLOW ARROW at the save dialog
  3. GREEN CALLOUT: "Output is paginated and print-ready for the case file"
To save a clean copy for the case file, click Export to PDF. TRH produces a paginated, print-ready document.
STEP 12
If the pull fails

Shows: A row in the queue panel showing an "Error" state with a red badge and expandable detail area showing the error message.
Annotations:
  1. RED CIRCLE around the Error badge
  2. YELLOW ARROW at the "Retry" action in the row
  3. GREEN CALLOUT linking to walkthrough 09 (Troubleshoot Common Errors)
Failed pulls appear with a red Error badge. Click the row to expand details, then Retry. Persistent errors usually fall into five categories — see walkthrough 09.
Done. Your first real transcript is in TRH. Learn to read it properly in 04 — Reading a Record of Account.
